Nutrition

Not only is being physically active very important, but so is a healthy and nutritious diet. You can find the different food groups online to get a good idea of what a nutritious diet looks like. Personally my favorite food groups are protein and fruits/veggies. I think part of being able to stay consistent with a nutritious diet is to eat foods that you like. I am much more inclined to eat foods like chicken, steak, eggs, grapes, strawberries, cantaloupe, etc. That makes it much more sustainable for me!

Aquatic Fundamentals

In the first 8/9 weeks of class, we learned all about the different swim strokes. From the front crawl to the back crawl, and even the butterfly and breaststroke. I have to say that the first week or two of class was not super easy. It wasn't horrible, but I had never swam like that before in my life. Now that the swim strokes unit is over, it is weird to say that I actually kind of miss being in the pool everyday doing them. I learned a lot, and I feel as though I am a better swimmer because of that unit. Although, I am very much looking forward to the upcoming boating and water safety unit. It should be a lot of fun!

School Wellness Education

School Wellness Education is a very important aspect of human life. SWE develops skills to facilitate positive change within their classes, schools and HPE programs. Three elements of SWE are Whole School, Livil Well, and Self Empowerment. Whole School involves content relative to the community, and play a role in the school to extend and enhance well-being. Living Well pertains to what do students need to be physically educated to be life, career, and college ready. Self Empowerment is exactly what it sounds like. It is a SW Educators job to build self empowerment into students lesson by lesson. We must instill it in the students that it is important to take care of themselves!

My last class on Thursdays ends at 3:15pm, and I was not going to drive all the way home to come back for volleyball. So I decided to stay on campus and spend my time at the ARC. I had never been there before so I had to pull up the campus map on my phone to find out where it was. Once I had arrived, the first thing I did was change into some gym clothes. After, I walked around the ARC, making myself familiar with everything there was to do. Then, I traded in my school ID for a basketball and shot some hoops for about 30-45 minutes. When I was finished, I got my ID back, then went upstairs to run some laps around the track. After about 20 minutes of running around the track, I made my way to the weight room. I lifted some weights and walked on the treadmill for about an hour or so. After that, it was time to go get something to eat. Overall, I can confidently sa...
